Designing your Service
Congratulations on becoming engaged, it's an exciting time ahead for you both of you and I can't wait to work with you to create the perfect ceremony.....let's get started!
We're here to tell your story, the story of your love and commitment to one another and that's one of the most amazing things you'll do in your life.
Let's create a story that is meaningful to both of you and the family and friends you've gathered to witness your declaration and the promises you will make to one another.
During our consultations, I will work with you both through the various components of the wedding service so we make your ceremony uniquely yours. We can do this in person and online and I'll also work to understand from both of you anyone I need to liaise with from your bridal party, family members and friends that you may want involved in your ceremony.
After the ceremony, if you would like to engage me as the MC for your reception, I'll make sure everyone involved is prepared and it all runs smoothly.
I am accredited and licenced by the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department to perform marriage ceremonies and I am available to travel regionally and interstate for destination weddings, subject to my availability.
I'll deliver my support, assistance and information in a timely way so you arrive relaxed and excited for your celebration!
The Perfect Day.......it's all in the details
Planning a wedding is a labor of love, but the details can often feel overwhelming. With the right support, however, those details transform into moments of magic that will make your day truly unforgettable.
As your Marriage Celebrant, I’m here to ensure your journey is as smooth as possible. You may already have your team in place and I'll work with them to ensure the wedding ceremony component is seamlessly integrated to the day.
Throughout my professional career, I’ve built a community of incredibly talented individuals who excel at designing experiences that can help bring your wedding dream to life.
From florists and photographers to musicians, caterers, cake artisans, winemakers, graphic designers, and event planners, these experts are passionate about what they do and ready to add their special touch to your celebration.
If there’s an area where you’d like extra help, I’ll happily connect you with the right people to make your vision a reality - together, we’ll create a day that’s uniquely yours.
Writing Vows
The wedding vows are a scared part of your day, the place in the ceremony where you have the opportunity to express your love for one another and what it means before all your family and friends.
For most coupes this is the most important part of the ceremony. Working together, I'll actively listen to understand the qualities of your relationship that matter to your most and help you to create a personalised expression that you'll both be able to look back on as a signature element of your day.
There are some minimal legal vows required to be cited by both of you and there is also the option to make personal vows to each other. As your Celebrant, I will walk you through what is involved with both and if you choose personal vows, I'll introduce and shape up the importance of the vows you have created during the ceremony.
For couples marrying again, the journey for this type of ceremony captures a different time of life to a first time wedding. I'll work with you both to understand how love this time around is different, acknowledging the journey you have both been on as your love has unfolded and how this is a very conscious choice to bring together your lives as they are now, including any children you may bring to this marriage.
Vow Renewals.......Honouring Your Journey Together
A vow renewal is a beautiful way to celebrate the journey of your love and reaffirm the promises you made to each other.
Whether you’re marking a significant anniversary, overcoming challenges together, or simply wishing to celebrate your enduring commitment, I will help you craft a ceremony that reflects the depth of your shared story.
We'll work together to design and personalise a ceremony that honours your journey and milestones and within that we can also include meaningful rituals, family involvement, or special readings.
I’m dedicated to creating a meaningful and heartfelt ceremony that honours your love story and celebrates the life you’ve built together.
Getting Married in Australia
Contrary to popular opinion, getting married is more than simply 'getting a piece of paper'. Marriage is a legal contract between two people which the Australian Government defines as "the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life."
Marriage partners are financially, socially and emotionally responsible for each other and any children of their relationship. Things will change, such as:
-
Marriage spouses automatically become each other's next of kin.
-
Marriage automatically revokes a Will, unless the Will clearly states that marriage was planned. This automatic revocation occurs because the law assumes that a spouse takes precedence over all other family members and dependents
-
Marriage also has impacts for laws relating to property settlement, health care decisions & insurance, custody of children, survivor benefits, wills , estates and inheritance, financial maintenance in the event the marriage is ended
It is because marriage is one of the most important contracts one will sign in one's life that the Australian Government requires the equivalent of a 30 day 'cooling off' period before the marriage ceremony takes place - this is known as the Notice of Intended Marriage. This is to ensure that anyone entering marriage, no matter how closely they have lived, or are living together, gives due consideration to the seriousness of the commitment they are about to make.
My role as your Marriage Celebrant is to design and complete a wedding ceremony in accordance with the legal requirements of the Marriage Act 1961 and adhere to the Code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants as contained in Schedule 2 of the Marriage Regulations 2017.
As your Marriage Celebrant I must:
-
Fulfill all the legal requirements outlined in the Marriage Act 1961.
-
Adhere to the Code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants as contained in Schedule 2 of the Marriage Regulations 2017.
-
Meet with you both to discuss your ceremony.
-
Establish you are both legally able to be married and complete and file a Notice of Intended Marriage 30 days prior to the marriage ceremony taking place
-
Provide you with examples of the diverse ceremony options available to you both to suit your needs and expectations and compose a meaningful, personal and tailored ceremony.
-
Meet with you individually to establish there is consent to the marriage and ensure the Declaration of No Legal Impediment is completed prior to the marriage ceremony commencing.
-
Perform the wedding ceremony and have your marriage registered with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state where the ceremony is performed within 14 days of the service and maintain records of the marriage ceremony for 6 years.
